Barclays Unit Hires iShares Exec

Barclays Global Investors of San Francisco said it has hired John Longley as head of national accounts for its iShares exchange-traded funds.

Mr. Longley will set the strategic direction and will lead a team to expand distribution for the funds through partnerships with national and regional banking companies and broker-dealers, the Barclays PLC subsidiary said last week.

He will join Barclays Global Investors in the spring.

Mr. Longley was the chief executive officer of Citigroup Inc.'s private bank. He worked for Smith Barney and Citi for 16 years.

Barclays Global Investors had $1.5 trillion of assets under management as of Dec. 31.
