Chase, Wells Fargo, B of A Get Best Marks in Reputation Survey

Consumers rated JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America as the most reputable in a group of 69 banks, a survey found.

USAA Federal Savings Bank, Capital One and Citibank rounded out the top six banks ranked by reputation, the survey by Market Force Information Inc. found. The Louisville, Colo., company completed the 2,800-consumer survey in August. It was to release its findings Thursday.

Forty-six percent of respondents cited free checking and convenient branch locations as the reason they chose their primary bank, followed by easy online banking and personalized service. Eighty-three percent said they were satisfied with their current bank, 10% said they had switched banks in the past year and 29% said they considered switching. The most common reason for switching was unhappiness with service, followed by fees.
