Citi Continues to Realign Prime Brokerage

Citigroup has tapped Ian Maynard from Nomura International for its prime brokerage arm, the business that provides lending, clearing and settlement services to hedge funds, a source close to the situation has confirmed to IDD.

Maynard joins Citi's prime finance division as head of trading, and is the latest in a series of hires to that unit. Previously, Maynard served as executive director of equity finance trading at Nomura International in London. Maynard left Nomura back in June, according to reports.

Citi has hired a series of former Lehman Brothers executives for its prime finance unit since Lehman's bankruptcy last September.

Citi was close to nabbing Kevin Harrison from Deutsche Bank for its prime finance division. However, Harrison ultimately decided to stay with his employer, according to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal.
