First Republic Hires Smaltz for Forex

First Republic Bank, a San Francisco private banking and wealth management company, announced it has hired Andrew Smaltz as a managing director of foreign exchange.

Smaltz, who has eight years of foreign exchange, derivatives and commercial banking experience, will manage the foreign exchange needs of clients in Southern California. He is at the bank's branch in Century City, Calif. He was a vice president at Royal Bank of Scotland in its foreign exchange and derivatives group. Before that, he worked at ABN Amro and FleetBoston Financial Corp.

First Republic's foreign exchange group serves a variety of business clients, including asset managers and investment management companies; privately held middle-market companies, as well as professional services firms in the legal, accounting and consulting sectors; educational institutions; and other nonprofit organizations.

First Republic, which announced the hiring Friday, has offices throughout California in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Newport Beach and San Diego. It also has offices in Las Vegas, Portland, Ore., Seattle, Boston and New York.
