Goldman Sachs Starts a Transition Group

Goldman Sachs Asset Management launched a transition management group.

The group, launched last week, teams transition professionals with the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. unit's financial solutions group to help public and private pension funds, endowments, foundations, corporations and investment managers with fundings and liquidations, portfolio restructurings, asset manager changes and asset reallocation from one investment strategy to another.

The group "offers a transparent process from start to finish" and is qualified to manage Employee Retirement Income Security Act assets and serve as a plan fiduciary, the unit said. "It begins with a customized pre-trade analysis and ends with a detailed plan for each client that is aimed at minimizing market impact while still achieving the desired portfolio in an efficient manner."

Goldman Sachs Group had $711.9 billion of assets as of Sept. 30.
