H&R Block Inc. named Susan Ehrlich president of financial services to oversee its H&R Block Bank strategy and several other financial service offerings, including the Emerald Card.
Ehrlich was most recently a senior vice president for JPMorgan Chase, where she was responsible for delivering new mobile-payment services.
The nation's largest tax preparer is at the end of a revamp that has returned its focus to traditional tax-prep business, including divesting itself of its brokerage and troublesome mortgage-lending operations. It also has amplified its software offerings to compete better with tax-software market leader Intuit Inc., the maker of TurboTax.
H&R Block reported in September its fiscal first-quarter loss widened on charges from the proposed sale of its RSM McGladrey tax and consulting business as revenue fell 2.5% because of weakness in that unit.
