In Brief: $6.5B Raised for Goldman Global Fund

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. announced Thursday that it has raised $6.5 billion of committed capital for its GS Infrastructure Partners Fund.

This is Goldman's first fund dedicated to making global infrastructure investments.

The fund will seek investments in traditional infrastructure sectors, including transport infrastructure (such as toll roads, airports, and ports), as well as regulated gas, water, and electrical utilities.

Though the fund is global, it will focus on larger investment opportunities in developed European and North American markets with established legal, political, and regulatory systems.

Goldman has committed about $750 million of the fund's capital. Other institutional investors in GS Infrastructure Partners include pension funds, insurance companies, and banks.
