Affiliated Managers Group Inc. has announced that Sean M. Healey, its president and chief operating officer, will become president and chief executive officer on Jan. 1.
Mr. Healey is to succeed, as CEO, founder and chairman William J. Nutt, the company said on Tuesday. Mr. Nutt is to remain chairman.
Mr. Healey, 43, joined AMG in 1995 as an executive vice president and in 1999 became president and chief operating officer.
He was named to the Boston company's board of directors in May 2001.
Before joining AMG, Mr. Healey worked seven years in the mergers and acquisitions department at Goldman, Sachs & Co., focusing on financial institutions. His wife, Kerry, is lieutenant governor of Massachusetts.
AMG, through its affiliated investment management firms, managed $109 billion of assets at Sept. 30.
