Alliant Resources Group Inc. said Tuesday that it has bought Benefit Partners LLC, which is to become part of Alliant's benefit subsidiary, Colonial Healthcare Inc. in Lanham, Md.

Founded in 2000, Benefit Partners focuses on providing individual and group life, disability, and health products and services in the Maryland-District of Columbia-Virginia-Pennsylvania region. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Benefit Partners had revenues of about $4 million last year.
Alliant is a Stamford, Conn.-based national distributor of insurance and financial services products. It had more than $158 million of revenue last year. It said it has done 12 acquisitions and is seeking more deals and strategic partnerships nationwide.
