AmerUs Group Co., a Des Moines producer of life insurance and annuity products, announced Friday that Ward M. Klein and Heidi L. Steiger have joined its board, bringing the complement to 13 directors, 11 of whom are independent.

Mr. Klein was recently named chief executive officer of Energizer Holdings Inc. in St. Louis and is the president and chief operating officer of the company's Energizer Battery and Schick-Wilkinson Sword operating divisions.
Ms. Steiger works for Worth Magazine Group and previously was an executive for 18 years at Neuberger Berman Inc., a New York investment company.
