AmerUs Group Co. has hired a Charles Schwab Corp. veteran as an executive vice president and its chief information officer.

Michael D. Boltz, 47, will manage the Des Moines company's information technology division, which supports the holding company, life insurance operations, annuity operations, and investment management unit.

Mr. Boltz was an executive with Schwab in San Francisco for 13 years, most recently as vice president for capital markets, asset management products, and services technology. Before joining Schwab he had worked for Merrill Lynch & Co. and Prudential-Bache Securities. AmerUs announced his hiring Tuesday.
