Bankers Life and Casualty Co. in Chicago said Wednesday that it had hired Michael Plazony to be a vice president of underwriting.

Mr. Plazony joined Bankers Life from Caremark Inc. in Nashville; he has also worked at Prudential, Employers Health Insurance, Travelers, and Trustmark. He is to be responsible for all new business and underwriting departments, including health and life underwriting and new business processing.
Bankers Life offers health and life insurance and retirement savings products designed for senior citizens. These products are distributed through a national network of company agents.
