In Brief: BW Insurance Buys in Oregon

Bank of the West in San Francisco announced Tuesday that its BW Insurance Agency of Fargo, N.D., has bought Contractor's Insurance Services Inc. of Tualatin, Ore.

It also said Tuesday that the subsidiary completed a deal for Nabity-Perry Insurance Inc. of Omaha. The two acquisitions brought to eight the number of insurance agencies BW has bought since December 2005.

The prices of the latest acquisitions were not disclosed.

Contractor's, a full-service agency, offers commercial and personal insurance. It specializes in providing insurance, risk management, and asset protection services for the building industry in the Pacific Northwest.

The firm offers group health, life, auto, home, bond, liability, disability, and workers' compensation insurance and is licensed to write policies in Oregon, Washington State, Idaho, California, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and South Carolina.

Since December 2005, BW Insurance has entered markets in Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. It now has 60 offices in nine states in the West and Midwest.

Bank of the West is owned by BancWest Corp. of Honolulu, which is a unit of BNP Paribas SA.
