E-Trade Financial Corp. said the daily average number of commission-generating trades its customers made last month rose 8.2% from September, to 151,665.
The increase, which the New York discount brokerage firm announced Wednesday, is better than the 4% increase that Charles Schwab Corp. reported Tuesday. Schwab reported an October daily average of 244,200 revenue trades.
E-Trade said the number of retail customers fell 0.1% last month, to 4.42 million at the end of October. However, its retail client assets rose 3.6%, to $191.4 billion.
