Fifth Third Asset Management Inc. said Friday that it has hired Mark Koenig and Michael Wayton for its quantitative investment team, which will assume management of the Passive Large Cap Core and Enhanced Large Cap Core separate account strategies.
Fifth Third Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Cincinnati banking company, said it sees the hirings as an opportunity to install additional stock screening tools for all portfolios, enhancing statistical risk analysis. The quantitative investment team is to focus on risk measurement and factor analysis in coordination with the unit's president and chief investment officer, E. Keith Wirtz.
Mr. Koenig, a chartered financial analyst, joined Fifth Third from National City Corp. in Cleveland; he has nine years of investment experience, including the directorship, since 1998, of quantitative analysis at National City.
Mr. Wayton also joined from National City, where he had six years of investment experience including, since 2000, being a quantitative research analyst.
