In Brief: First Republic Adds Investing Unit Chief

First Republic Bank in San Francisco said Monday it hired Brett Berry to be the managing director of its investment management subsidiary, Trainer Wortham & Co.

Mr. Berry was a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager at U.S. Trust. Previously, he was a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager for 15 years at Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser.

First Republic had $16.3 billion of assets under management and administration at Sept. 30 in its investment management groups. Trainer Wortham managed $5 billion at Sept. 30.
