Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has hired an executive to run its 529 college savings program.
The Simsbury, Conn., firm announced Monday that it had hired Jeff Coghan for the job. Mr. Coghan has handled product development, marketing, and sales of 529 plans at Morgan Stanley and Alliance Capital Management LP for the last six years.
In his new job, he will work with Hartford's wholesaling and key accounts nationally to increase awareness and promote education for the Smart529 college savings plan, which was introduced in 2002 and has $560 million of assets under management.
