HSBC Private Bank has announced the hirings of four former executives of Citigroup Inc.
Peter Carlson was hired to be a regional manager responsible for the private bank's expansion in the Northeast; he is to focus on Boston, upstate New York, and the District of Columbia, the company said on Monday. This appointment and the planned expansion of the private bank parallel expansion plans for HSBC Bank USA's retail and commercial banking businesses.
Most recently, Mr. Carlson was a director and private banker at Citigroup Private Bank. He also was the chairman and chief executive of Citicorp Insurance Brokers Ltd., from 1985 to 1990.
In addition David Osborn, Jill Buttner, and John Popa have joined HSBC from Citigroup Private Bank's Greenwich, Conn., office.
Mr. Osborn was named a senior relationship manager, and Ms. Buttner and Mr. Popa were named relationship managers. They are to work in New York, and all three report to Mr. Carlson.
In July, HSBC Private Bank hired William Criss and Richard Catterton to expand the private bank's business in the Pacific Northwest.
