In Brief: Huntington Buying Unified Fund Services

Huntington Bancshares Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, said it has signed a definitive agreement to buy Unified Fund Services Inc. of Indianapolis.

The Unified Financial Services Inc. subsidiary, which provides fund accounting, administration, distribution, and transfer agent services to mutual funds, is to become a subsidiary of Huntington.

The deal was announced Thursday and is expected to close at the end of the year. The price was not disclosed.

Unified Fund Services has 45 customers "representing over 169,000 shareholders and $9 billion in assets," Huntington said.
