In Brief: Jefferson-Pilot Chairman Dates Retirement

Jefferson-Pilot Corp. in Greensboro, N.C., announced Tuesday that chairman David A. Stonecipher plans to retire from that post Friday.

He is to remain on the board as its nonexecutive chairman.

Mr. Stonecipher’s retirement came after the company’s top post changed hands this year with the accession of Dennis R. Glass as chief executive officer, succeeding Mr. Stonecipher. The latter had joined Jefferson-Pilot in 1992 and became its president and CEO and a director in 1993. He was named chairman in 1998.

Jefferson-Pilot offers full lines of individual and group life insurance products as well as annuity and investment products.
