The chairman, chief executive, and president of Leesport Financial Corp. in Wyomissing, Pa., resigned unexpectedly Wednesday.
The company said only that Raymond H. Melcher, 53, wanted to “pursue other interests,” but he told a local paper that he had been considering resigning for nine months after realizing he wanted to do something other than run a public company.
Alfred J. Weber, an independent director and the president of the marketing firm Tweed-Weber Inc., will take over as chairman. Vito A. Delisi, the president of Madison Bank, which Leesport bought in October, will take over as acting president and CEO.
When Mr. Melcher joined the company in 1998, Leesport Bank had eight branches and assets of $200 million. It now has 22 branches and assets of $855 million.
