In Brief: Mellon Adds a VP to Transition Unit

Mellon Financial Corp. has hired David J. Hanlon as a vice president of sales in its transition management services group.

The Pittsburgh unit helps institutional investors move their assets to new managers.

Mr. Hanlon, whose hire was announced Monday, was a sales executive for DST International Inc. of London; he sold risk management services to institutional investors in North America. Before that he was a sales and client services executive for State Street Bank and Trust Co. in Boston.

Mellon Financial has $3.7 trillion of assets under management, administration, or custody, including $670 billion under management. Its asset management companies include Dreyfus Corp. and Newton Investment Management Ltd. of London.
