Merlin Securities, a broker-dealer specializing in prime brokerage, said it had hired a former Bank of America executive Thursday to be a managing director.

The New York firm announced that Rob Davis, a former national sales manager at Banc of America Prime Brokerage, is to be responsible for its sales and marketing.
Before joining Merlin, Mr. Davis was the chief operating officer at SDS Capital Group, a Greenwich, Conn., hedge fund, where he was responsible for marketing as well as day-to-day operations. Previously, he worked at Montgomery Securities Prime Brokerage Services and at Banc of America Prime Brokerage.
