Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. has hired John Crompton, a former Morgan Stanley executive, as its head of equity capital markets for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The hiring was announced Thursday. Mr. Crompton will succeed Flavio Valeri, 42, who has been put in charge of Merrill's investment banking business in Germany and Austria.
Mr. Crompton, 44, has worked at Morgan Stanley since 1986. He was most recently on temporary assignment with the U.K. Treasury. He is a former Morgan Stanley deputy country head for the United Kingdom and previously oversaw the company's equity capital markets business in Europe. He will start his new job in May.
