The annuity and long-term-care sales group, led by Paul Sylvester, has now been divided into five channels: wirehouse, independent planner, broker-dealer, financial institution, and long-term care.

The life insurance sales group was split into an independent and a national accounts channel. It is led by Paul LaPianna, who joined MetLife in 2001 as an executive vice president of its wealth management group.

Both teams report to senior vice president Michael K. Farrell.

The MetLife Inc. unit said the reorganization will also help it serve customers of Travelers Life and Annuity, acquired in January.
