Moody's Investors Service will upgrade its "investment management quality ratings," its assessment of money managers.
They will now include a series of objective, quantitative benchmarking tools for more rigorous insight into the abilities of money managers, the agency said Thursday.
Moody's issues the ratings, on request, on companies that manage retail, high-net-worth, and institutional assets. It separately rates individual funds by the risk of the assets in which they invest.
