Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. appointed John Keenan as senior vice president and director of sales and distribution for its individual life division.

Mr. Keenan's hiring was announced last week. His responsibilities will include sales and distribution of individual life insurance products sold through all channels, including wire houses, banks, broker-dealers, and independent life agents, the company said.
He was the vice president of life insurance sales at Nationwide Financial Services. In that role, he led wire house, bank, and brokerage distribution.
Hartford had $250 million of life insurance sales last year.
