Nationwide Financial Services Inc., a provider of long-term savings and retirement products, has announced the naming of Robert C. "Clay" Thompson to lead Nationwide Provident’s distribution organizations.
Mr. Thompson succeeds Gary McMahan, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests, the Columbus, Ohio, insurer said Tuesday. Mr. Thompson is responsible for all Nationwide Provident retail distribution channels, as well as for 1717 Capital Management, its broker-dealer arm.
He has 15 years of sales management experience for Nationwide Financial with several products and channels, including its bank distribution subsidiary. In his two years at Nationwide Provident, he has given sales management support to Provident’s career and independent agents.
The company also said that Peter Golato, a senior vice president in Nationwide Financial’s individual protection business segment, will take responsibility for Nationwide Provident’s statutory insurance companies.
