In Brief: Nebraska Group Designs Anti-Fraud Flyer

The Nebraska Bankers Association has designed a "statement stuffer" telling consumers how to ward off crooks who try to scam money through mail and telephone offers.

The trade group developed the information card after getting numerous complaints of mail and telephone financial scams throughout the state.

Bankers may include the cards-which are yellow with red flags-in account statement mailings.

The text advises consumers to be wary of anyone asking for their credit card, checking account, or Social Security numbers. It also gives them phone numbers for the state attorney general's office, Federal Trade Commission, and National Fraud Information Center.
