Northern Trust Corp. has hired David P. Kalis as lead manager of Northern Trust Global Investments' midcap growth equity team.

Mr. Kalis, whose hiring was announced Thursday, was named a senior portfolio manager and a senior vice president of the Chicago company. He will run the unit's fundamental midcap growth products.
Before joining Northern Trust he was a partner with Segall Bryant & Hamill Investment Counsel, where he developed the firm's midcap strategy and managed several mutual funds.
Northern Trust had $3.3 trillion of assets under custody and $667 billion of assets under management as of Sept. 30. The midcap team had over $330 million of assets under management.
