Principal Financial Group, a Des Moines financial services provider, has introduced health insurance-related products including a series of high-deductible health plans, a health reimbursement account, and a wellness program.
For the high-deductible health plans, Principal said on Wednesday, it begins paying benefits to a person once that member meets his or her individual deductible. Most high-deductible health plans, by contrast, require an entire family's deductible to be satisfied before one of the family can receive benefits.
The wellness program, Principal HealthyEssentials, gives employers a strategy that includes onsite health and wellness screenings and additional assessment tools.
The company is seeing higher demand among employers for health screening tools, Jerry Ripperger, the director of consumer health, said in a press release. "In less than two years, our health screening business is now two-and-one-half times the original size, demonstrating a desire for preventative action among members," he said.
