In Brief: Pru Unit Eyes $95M as SEC Settlement

Prudential Financial Inc.'s American Skandia division proposed paying a $95 million fine Friday to settle charges of market timing brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission and New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.

Though American Skandia is a Prudential division, the settlement would be paid by Skandia Forsakring, the Stockholm-based insurer that sold the unit in December 2002 but retained indemnity obligations.
