In Brief: Smith Barney Hires Private-Client CFO

The Smith Barney subsidiary of Citigroup Inc. has hired a former JPMorgan Chase & Co. executive to be chief financial officer of its global private-client group.

The New York investment company announced Monday that Stacy Brandom would succeed Lori Frisher who was named chief of staff to Sally Krawcheck, the former Smith Barney head who became Citi's chief financial officer in November 2004. Ms. Brandom will be responsible for all aspects of finance and control in the private-client group.

She is to oversee all controllership, business reporting, and business analysis functions and report to Mark Joiner, the chief financial officer of Citigroup's wealth management division, and to Charlie Johnston, the president and chief executive officer of the global private-client group.

In the past two decades Ms. Brandom held several posts in the banking and corporate finance groups of JPMorgan Chase. Most recently, she was the chief financial officer and a senior vice president in the company's corporate sector and previously was chief financial officer and a senior vice president of the middle-market group.

Global wealth management is a business of Citigroup that comprises Citigroup Private Bank, Citigroup Investment Research, and Smith Barney Global Private Client Group.
