St. Paul Travelers Cos.' debt rating outlook was revised to positive, from stable, by Standard & Poor's, the New York rating agency which pointed Thursday to the insurer's improved operating performance.
S&P also changed the outlook for member companies of the St. Paul Travelers Insurance Group to positive. The agency said the companies have financial flexibility and strong capitalization. An outlook revision to positive from stable indicates the ratings may be changed within two years. Ratings upgrades can reduce a company's borrowing costs.
