In Brief: Swiss Re Completes Purchase

Swiss Reinsurance Co. completed its acquisition of General Electric Co.'s London life insurance business.

The Swiss insurer announced last week that it had paid $914.1 million for GE Life. Swiss Re said the deal, which received regulatory approval, fits its strategy of buying insurance portfolios that other companies have closed to new business.

Last year Swiss Re bought GE Insurance Solutions from General Electric for $7.6 billion.
