Financial Industries Corp. has added a retired insurance executive to its board of directors.
The Austin, Tex., life insurance holding company said on Tuesday that it had named Robert Nikels to join its board Nov. 1.
Mr. Nikels has more than 31 years of experience in the life, annuity, and health insurance businesses. He began his career as an actuarial student at Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., where he held several posts, including senior vice president of product management from 1992 to 1995. He retired from Lincoln National in 1995.
On the Financial Industries board, he succeeds Salvador Diaz-Verson Jr., who resigned in July.
Financial Industries is searching for a new top executive. J. Bruce Boisture, the president and chief executive officer, has resigned those posts, effective Nov. 4, and is quitting the board, too. He had become president and CEO in early 2004 with a three-year contract.
