In Brief: TIAA-CREF Alliance Adds Pension Advice

TIAA-CREF announced Thursday that it has a partnership with Ibbotson Associates to give retirement plan participants enhanced, objective advice and planning tools.

The New York pension fund company said it will offer participants in its defined contribution retirement plans asset allocation guidance and specific fund recommendations for building an appropriate investment portfolio, taking into consideration their specific financial goals and personal information.

TIAA-CREF said it plans to begin offering this service early next year to institutional retirement plans that are on its new Open Plan Solutions platform, which offers expanded investment choices and simplified administrative solutions.

Chicago-based Ibbotson supplies training, client education materials, asset allocation investment management services, and software.

1st Albany Unit Hires Dallas Office Head

Vincent Matrone has joined First Albany Capital as a senior vice president, the company said Thursday, and will head up its newly opened Dallas office.

First Albany Capital is an institutional investment banking, sales, and trading boutique and a division of First Albany Cos. Mr. Matrone, who is a board member of the Dallas County Treasurer's Council, has four decades of experience in investment banking, public finance, and financial management.
