Tompkins Trustco Inc. in Ithaca, N.Y., said Monday that its subsidiary, Tompkins Insurance Agencies Inc., had bought Banfield & Associates Inc., an insurance agency in Ithaca.

The deal was closed Friday with the merger of Banfield & Associates into Tompkins Insurance Agencies.
Banfield & Associates was a full-service agency owned and operated by W. David Banfield. He was named a senior vice president and manager by Tompkins Insurance Agencies.
Tompkins Trustco is the parent of three community banks, Tompkins Trust Co., Bank of Castile, and Mahopac National.
