Vanguard Group said Thursday that it had reopened one fund and dropped annual investment limits on two others.
The Malvern, Pa., mutual fund company has reopened the Vanguard Strategic Equity Fund and increased its minimum initial investment to $10,000. In addition, the $25,000 annual investment limits on the Vanguard Windsor II Fund and Wellington Fund were removed.
The company said the restrictions had been adopted in April after "a period of strong performance that attracted significant new cash flows in the three funds."
Six Vanguard funds remain closed to new accounts - Explorer, Precious Metals and Mining, Health Care, International Explorer, Primecap, and Capital Opportunity.
At Oct. 31, the Strategic Equity Fund had $7 billion under management, Vanguard Windsor II had $46 billion, and Wellington had $44 billion. Vanguard managed $1.07 trillion of assets overall at Oct. 31.
