InterWest Savings goes to optical disk.

InterWest Savings Bank, a $1 billion-asset thrift based in Oak Harbor, Wash., installed a data archival system to convert its paper and microfiche reports to optical disk. The system was developed by Protocorp International, Monroe, N.C., which provides archival and document imaging systems.

Using multiple workstations to process the host downloads, the system diminishes the delay that can accompany systems using single workstations.
