Lehman Veteran Joins Starwood Capital

Starwood Capital Group Global LLC, a private investment company in Greenwich, Conn., has hired John McCarthy as global head of asset management.

As global co-head of asset management for Lehman Brothers Real Estate Private Equity, McCarthy managed five funds with more than $40 billion of assets, Starwood said in Monday's announcement.

McCarthy will oversee Starwood's worldwide real estate portfolio from Starwood's headquarters in Greenwich and be part of its senior management team. Jeffrey Dishner, who was head of asset management, will return to helping lead Starwood's acquisitions team.

Before joining Lehman, McCarthy was a partner at O'Connor Capital Partners, where he was co-head of its European business and head of European asset management.
