McDonnell Investment Management LLC of Chicago has opened its first New York City branch.
The branch, which opened Monday, will be managed by 18-year Wall Street veteran Michael Herzig, who was hired in February to lead sales and client service for McDonnell's alternative credit strategies business.
McDonnell, a private fixed-income asset management firm, had $12 billion of assets under management as of June 30.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
