San Jose Branch for Scottrade

The online investment firm Scottrade Inc. of St. Louis said it is opening a branch in San Jose next week.

The branch, to open May 26, will be managed by Nate Denig, who had managed Scottrade's Campbell, Calif., branch.

The San Jose branch will be the ninth Scottrade branch to open in California this year.

Scottrade provides tools and research for self-directed investors to manage their finances.

Stock brokers are available in branches to answer account-related questions and give tutorials on Scottrade's online services.

The company was founded in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1980 as a discount brokerage. It began offering online trading in 1996.
