The online brokerage Scottrade Inc. of St. Louis has opened branches in Portage, Mich., North Little Rock, and Somers Point, N.J.

The company now has 425 branches. It plans to have added 50 in 2009 by yearend.
The Portage branch is Scottrade's 14th in Michigan, the North Little Rock branch is its second in the Little Rock area and the Somers Point branch is its 16th in New Jersey. All three opened Monday.
Scottrade provides online research and tools for individual investors to make investment decisions. In the branches, brokers can answer account-related questions, provide customer service and give tutorials on Scottrade's online trading services.
