Short Takes: Bank's Lawyer Given Seat on Benefits Panel

A lawyer at Mercantile Bancorp. of St. Louis has been appointed to a federal advisory council on employee benefits.

Janie Greenwood-Harris, who administers employee benefit trusts at $35.8 billion-asset Mercantile, was one of five people named to the 15-member committee by Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman on Jan. 25.

She has been on the council since April as a substitute for Rick McGahey, who became assistant secretary of policy in the Labor Department.

The council meets several times a year to make policy recommendations on the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Members are appointed for three-year terms.
