Sun Life Financial Inc. of Toronto said Colm Freyne, its acting chief financial officer since July 1, now has the title outright.
Freyne, who is also an executive vice president, has worked for Sun Life since 2003. He has managed enterprise functions as chief auditor and as senior vice president and controller.
Before joining Sun Life, Freyne was chief accountant for TD Bank Financial Group.
Sun Life, which announced Freyne's promotion last week, had $371 billion of assets under management at midyear.
