Top Chairs Change at 1st Pacific

Ronald J. Carlson has been appointed board chairman and acting president and chief executive officer of the $422 million-asset 1st Pacific Bancorp in San Diego.

Mr. Carlson was chairman and CEO of Landmark National Bank in Solana Beach, Calif. He became a 1st Pacific director last year when it bought the $125 million-asset Landmark.

Before that, Mr. Carlson was president and CEO of the $643 million-asset Scripps Financial Corp. in San Diego, which sold itself in 2000 to U.S. Bancorp in Minneapolis.

In a press release late Thursday, 1st Pacific said that A. Vincent Siciliano had resigned as its president and CEO to "seek other opportunities" and that it is searching for a permanent replacement. Mr. Carlson is to serve in those roles until one is found.

Mr. Carlson succeeds James G. Knight as chairman. Dr. Knight will remain on 1st Pacific's board, but resigned as chairman to concentrate on his medical practice.
