U.K. Consumers Embracing Mobile, Online Banking Services

Consumers in the United Kingdom ages 18 to 25 increasingly are using computers and mobile phones to manage their personal finances, suggest the results of a survey sponsored by mobile-banking company Monitise PLC.

U.K.-based research firm Future Foundation conducted the online survey of 1,000 consumers in November. Some 25% of respondents ages 18 to 25 prefer using mobile- and online-banking services instead of phoning a customer-service center.

The survey also found that only 10% of respondents older than 65 use mobile- or online-banking services. Males, at 22%, also a more likely to use such services than are females, at 13%, the survey data suggest. Monitise was unavailable to comment by CardLine's deadline.
