Pilfering Pandit

Last week, when Gawker Media posted what it said was the direct cell phone number for Citi CEO Vikram Pandit, it was just the tip of the iceberg.

More information – including financial information for Citigroup Inc.'s top executive – has been exposed by a group affiliated with the 'hacktivists' Anonymous, Cnet News reported Monday. The other information exposed includes phone numbers, e-mail address, legal information and family information.

The group, called CabinCr3w, said it released Pandit's personal information in response to Citi's decision to allow police to resist members of the Occupy Wall Street protest who went to a New York branch to close their accounts.

Citi defended its decision to call police. The protesters "were very disruptive and refused to leave after being repeatedly asked, causing our staff to call 911," Citi said in a statement quoted in the Cnet article.
