Paysafecard has launched a voucher scheme for online shopping, a spokesperson for the Austria-based prepaid-payments company tells CardLine Global. The company's "Cash-Ticket" is a paper voucher that consumers can buy at some 20,000 UK locations, plus other sites in Germany and Austria, the spokesperson says. Consumers can buy the vouchers in denominations of 10, 25, 50 and 100 UK pounds. Consumers pay a 2-pound (US$2.95 or 2.20 euros) activation fee and enter 16-digit codes when making purchases. The company did not say how many merchants accept the vouchers. Paysafecard expects the vouchers to drive more consumers to online shopping. The spokesperson says some online shoppers reconsider their purchases at checkout because they do not want to submit personal information such as credit card data over the Internet. "With Cash-Ticket, nobody has to provide any personal info," the spokesperson says. The vouchers are the second product release from Paysafecard. A previous voucher, available in 16 European countries, focused on payments for online games and communication services. Consumers have made 37 million transactions with those vouchers, the spokesperson says. The company plans to offer its Cash-Ticket in 13 other European countries but the spokesperson could not offer a schedule.
